Big bluestem is a winner. It brings different eye candy to the table in each season. It doesn’t get “big” until the fall, when the big bronze filler, with it’s beautiful seed heads are welcomed. It’s blue colors from spring through summer pair beautifully with flowering natives. It is the host plant to many skippers, and Songbirds adore it’s seeds. Leave out for winter for bird watching as they eat the seeds and use it for nesting. It is a strong winter beauty. Andropogon is drought tolerant, and loves the sun. Deer and rabbit resistant!
