Pennsylvania sedge is a great carex for dry shade or with moisture can handle some sun. C. pensylvanica is a fantastic lawn alternative and it is low growing, tolerate a high mow, although I would not recommend that because it supports many pollinators and is deer resistant. It is one of the more adaptable sedges and my personal favorite.
