Thinleaf sunflower is a keystone species that knocks it out of the park! Helianthus host 66 caterpillar species, and support 50 pollinator bee specialists. Woodland sunflower likes part shade and naturally grows at the woodlands edge, but it can tolerate sun. It puts on a pretty incredible fall display of masses of yellow 1″-3″ sunflowers on 6′ stalks. It also makes a great cut lower and is deer resistant.
